Deal Solution Designer – Manager/Senior Manager - Data

 

Job Summary:

 

As an EY Global Managed Services – Deal solution designer (DSD), you directly help EY & clients with a highly efficient, optimised and precise deal proposal to transition, manage & transform their business. 

 

You will primarily have 3 responsibilities:

 

Client Interaction:
As a trusted advisor, you will harvest requirements from clients and translate them into solutions that meet the objectives and deal principles agreed with the client. You will define the deal scope and overall proposal with close consultation, and diligence with the Global Managed Services solution architect. You would do so, by leveraging upon your data engineering and analytics knowledge, industry experience & deep understanding of both – project scope & EY’s technology (Client Technology) capabilities/products. You are expected to be a technology leader, serving as a liaison between business partners, delivery leaders and project stakeholders. Deal shaping:
The Data DSD occupies a pivotal position in the deal architecture and solution design lifecycle, spanning all phases of deal development. As a data, BI and analytics engineering leader, you will possess a robust understanding of technology and its application in achieving strategic business outcomes. Your role involves providing authoritative guidance on solution and deal definition, offering architectural thought leadership, and evaluating the technical feasibility and associated costs of key business solution implementations. You will leverage the breadth of EY Client Technology's products, tools, and processes to ensure that the proposed solutions are not only technically correct but also align with the client's vision and requirements.
  Technical proposal development by working with a wide variety of internal stakeholders namely product owners (CT Technology Officers and product managers), Offering Owners (from the Service Lines), CT Delivery, Service Line Delivery and GDS (Global Delivery Services). The Deal solution designer is involved in pre-sales, envisioning, designing and development of the deal solution with a broad focus around managed services for the enterprise, industry, platform and solutions. In a cloud first world, the DSD plays a vital role in proposing the right cloud solutions along with identifying the implementation possibilities of existing EY and best of breed 3rd party products and solutions, thereby helping customers as well as EY get better results out of their managed services investments.

Essential Functions of the Role:

 

Serve as the subject matter expert of data, BI, analytics, providing deep technical knowledge and strategic guidance to the pre-sales team. Engage with clients to understand their business needs, challenges, and opportunities to translate into actionable data and AI oriented solutions. Lead the development of innovative and compelling proposals, presentations, and demonstrations that clearly communicate the value and differentiation of data and AI managed services offerings. Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to refine go-to-market strategies, identify target markets, and develop messaging that resonates with potential clients. Collaborate with the sales team to respond to RFPs, RFIs, and to develop proposals and quotes. Provide thought leadership by staying abreast of industry trends, advancements in data engineering, analytics, data science and other evolving AI technologies. Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices within the pre-sales team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Contribute to the strategic direction of the pre-sales function, including the development of new offerings and the optimization of pre-sales methodologies and tools.  Provide market feedback to product management and engineering teams to help shape future product features. Deal Architecture & Solutioning for mid-large-scale managed services deals. Provide thought leadership of an Enterprise Architecture specialist with the service line sales/business teams during deal development, pursuit & close phases. Having deep understanding of EY ‘Global Managed Services’ drivers, products, tools & processes to stitch the right solution that delivers managed services to clients.  Hands on in creating E2E solution architecture with an alignment with overall EA and IT Roadmap of specific clients. Applying TOGAF and SAFe principles to deal/solution architecture design. The DSD must be able to integrate all architecture disciplines (Business Data, Application, Integration, Technology, and Security), following TOGAF framework. Pro-actively contribute to the development of the Architecture community and be an ambassador for good Architecture. Assist in onboarding new architects. Interact with stakeholders on architecture issues and strategic improvements where such expertise is required. Ensure projects solution architecture is documented using the templates, Architecture tooling and conforms to standards (incl IRM, TOE, etc) and utilizes the available reference models. Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers and technology product managers to “handover” detailed solution plans after deal closure. 

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

 

Deep understanding of data architectures, data modelling, ETL, data warehousing and BI principles. Proficiency in machine learning, AI technologies, and their application in business context. Experience with cloud computing platforms and their data/AI offerings, Azure focused. Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices. Familiarity with software development practices and DevOps methodologies for data, BI and AI engineering projects. Strong tech background – stints in deal development, architecture & strategy or being associated with a technology start-up. Having worked on large scale multi-technology, data, analytics and AI focused deals. Technology all-round expertise – Applications, Infrastructure, Digital, Security. Having technical / data / application / integration architecture experience. Expertise on solution write-up, curating client presentations. Good communication skills in English both written and spoken. Ability to interact with a global audience of customers, partners and a global team. Good business acumen with outstanding ability in developing strategic ongoing customer relationships, gaining trust of stakeholders and respect for the company through technical leadership. Ability to identify technical risks before they occur and to develop mitigation and avoidance strategies. Organized and methodical. Ability to initiate, plan and execute projects with a significant level of uncertainty and risk. Rigorous, thorough and detail oriented. Leadership & negotiating skills and ability to drive change using influence and networking.

 

Other Requirements:

 

A strong portfolio of successful pre-sales engagements and solution designs. Individual contributor role, hence, should know the art of influence without authority. Strong experience in offshore/onsite working model and working with different geographies and cultures. Certifications and/or experience in SAFe Agile Delivery and Product Management would be desirable. Architectural training/certifications like TOGAF or IASA is desirable. Knowledge on service management framework, especially on areas of service strategy and design (ITIL V3/V4) would be an added advantage.

Education:

 

BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 

 

Experience:

 

12 -20+ years of technology, business development & thought leadership. At least 10 years of experience in the data, BI and AI engineering domain, with a focus on solution architecture and pre-sales. Proven track record of designing and delivering complex data and AI solutions. Prior management experience, preferably in a pre-sales or technical sales role.
