DE Manager Processing

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Processing manager is expected to function as the main supervisor of all Processing personnel (including clean-up laborers) for his/her Processing shift. Processing mangers must also work together between shifts to ensure that both shifts run the proper amount of eggs, and more importantly, that all sales orders are filled and processed in a timely manner. He or she is expected to achieve a level of competency that allows them to manage and supervise the entire egg production operation on a daily basis (including all aspects of the Processing machine and the people staffing it).

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Monitor and regulate (if needed) specified egg washer soap levels,Sanitizer and rinse levels (before start-up and during operation,) insuring proper differential between wash and rinse temperatures. In addition, the egg washer must be drained, cleaned, and refilled at required time intervals. Responsible for possessing and bringing to work all tools listed on attached tool sheetResponsible for coordinating all regular communication with quality control manager with respect to egg quality. Must assist quality control inspector with monitoring proper egg weights and dates, and immediately correcting problems if they exist.Must regularly monitor and adjust carton and box dating (ensuring that the daters have the correct Julian date, expiration date, plant number, and that all printing is legible.)Must ensure that Processing is kept neat, clean, and organized during operations.Must ensure that accurate inventory is kept of rejects and that they are checked in a timely and efficient manner.Ensure that all denatured barrels are properly labeled and placed in the cooler each night.Must ensure that the Processing is adequately staffed for the entire week.Must ensure that candling area and candling personnel are ready for start-up. Must perform a dry run of packers to ensure that they are running properly.Must ensure that the run sheet is followed and that operation is set to run accordingly. (The cooler manager may assist in helping with changes or problems.)Must perform daily sanitation inspection of egg Processing cleanliness.Responsible for Processing employee familiarization with all company policies and regulation, employee relations, employee grievances, and wage administration.Must ensure egg Processing compliance with all federal, state, and local directives and regulations.Must regularly communicate with the Processing maintenance person, and must assist him when necessary in repairs and troubleshooting.Must ensure completion and transmittal of all appropriate paperwork associated with egg Processing operations and performance.Must regularly communicate with house managers and monitor egg flow from layer houses to the Processing.Alert (within a reasonable time frame) the complex manager of his or her farm of any urgent or emergency situations, which require their attention or approval.Ensure proper housekeeping duties are completed after each shift run.Delegate necessary duties to the asst. egg Processing manager and third person as necessary.Evaluate and discipline Processing employees as necessary (reminder: ALL forms of harassment or suspected harassment must be taken seriously. It is the responsibility of the Processing manager to ensure that all instances are investigated properly should they involve employees from his or her crew.) Processing managers not following proper procedures during such instances will be subject to disciplinary action. ** Please contact the Rose Acre Farms HR Office immediately should you require any forms for such purposes.Must alert (within a reasonable time frame) the complex manager to any urgent or emergency situations that require his attention or approval. Responsible for familiarizing themselves with all Rose Acre Farms Biosecurity Program policies.Responsible for familiarizing self with Rose Acre Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

High school diploma or equivalent – previous grading or egg industry experience is helpful.Must possess previous management experience (not necessarily agricultural) or be capable of performing management functions as determined by current farm management/complex manager.College or vocational school training is desired, but it is not required.Some knowledge of egg production operations and the role the Processing plays in getting our finished product out efficiently. Capable of working on a monotonous job for extended periods of time, and maintaining the discipline to not become distracted.Capable of working long hours if needed to complete the processing.Capable of working weekend shifts and maintaining a flexible schedule to help the Processing manager should they need assistance on a particular day.Possess excellent teamwork skills – as with many jobs this position requires a “team” attitude, and requires that all Processing workers work together to get eggs processed.Ability to handle multiple tasks at once – the ability to deal with stressful situations and still get the job complete.Ability to treat co-workers and managers with respect and courtesy.Ability to lift more than 40 lbs. continually throughout the day.Ability to stand for the majority of the day and work in a physically demanding    environment (temperature and humidity fluctuations, egg odor, etc.)Must possess some experience in the different phases of an egg Processing’s mechanical functions (i.e., troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, and familiarizing themselves with the Processing operation manual.)Possess the ability to monitor all cases that are coming off the Processing for being sealed and labeled properly.Must have previous computer experience or possess the ability to learn computer programs – namely relevant Microsoft programs such as MS Excel

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
