DE Maintenance Manager Processing

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Processing Maintenance Manager is expected to achieve and maintain a level of competency that allows them to oversee the egg grader’s efficient performance through regularly scheduled maintenance procedures. In addition, the Processing Maintenance Manager verifies grader parts and supplies inventories. Assists Grader Manager with directing personnel in compliance with government and company sanitation regulations.  Inspects appearance and work methods of egg grader personnel for conformance to machine operation standards.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintain a preventive service schedule of all appropriate machine components (i.e. chains, bearings, bulbs, etc.) according to manufacturer’s recommendationsPerform inspections of egg grader(s) and packaging machinery at regular intervals and document areas for improvement.Troubleshoot and correct errors/faults efficiently to minimize machine downtime.Maintain an organized parts inventory system and create order forms when stock is low.Regularly inspect and adjust timing and performance of all grader and equipment assemblies.Assist with oversight on new equipment installations.Ensure that the facility is adequately staffed with on-site maintenance technician(s) for each day of processing operations. Establish contractor communication and also assist with routine egg processing facility maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting.Completion and transmittal of all appropriate paperwork associated with maintaining egg processing operations, maintenance and performance.Ensure all egg processing machinery is within compliance with all Federal, State, and Local directives and regulations.Assist the Quality Control Inspector with monitoring proper egg weights and egg quality packed into cartons and correcting nonconformities when they appear. Assist in monitoring and adjusting carton and box dating by verifying that labels/printouts have correct Julian date, expiration date, plant number and that all are printing legibly.Assist the Processing Manager with maintaining an organized and safe working environment during operation (i.e. remove debris and waste from floors and equipment)Become capable of running the grader in the absence the Processing Manager or Assistant Processing Manager.Assist in ensuring that egg processing equipment is sanitized according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Alert the Complex Manager and/or Regional Manager of any urgent or emergency situations, which would require immediate attention or approval (within a reasonable time frame).Familiarize self with and conform to all Biosecurity Program Policies.Familiarize self with and comply with Rose Acres Farms’ Safety Program.Familiarize self with and ensure Egg Processing Personnel comply and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook (GMP) policies (applicable only to personnel at complexes with breaker plants).Must possess and bring with them to work all tools listed on attached tool sheet.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Post-secondary mechanical, technical training or degree preferred.  Capable of performing routine math calculations, including percentages and fractions.Experience with egg grader operational functions (i.e., machine set up, starting/stopping machine, fault codes, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs).Literacy with basic computer functions and applicationsMust be dependable and be available to work flexible hours - including nights and weekends.Must be available to answer emergency calls when off-site.Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent manner.Possess good decision-making and organizational skills.Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be able to reach areas only accessible by ladder.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
