DE Assistant Manager Processing

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Grader Manager is responsible for all aspects of the egg grading process by constantly monitoring all critical control points that may affect the quality of Rose Acre Farms product. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Grader Manager to ensure the finished product, team member compliance with all Rose Acre Farms, customer, local, state, and federal standards are met to the highest possible levels of quality. It is imperative that the Assistant Grader Manager is not only able to identify an issue that needs attention but to also contribute to finding the solution to that issue. The Assistant Grader Manager's duties are always to be performed in an exemplary and professional manner at all times.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist Grader Manager with team member relations, team member grievances, and evaluations Assist Grader Manager to ensure that the grader is adequately staffed for the entire week.Assist Grader Manager to ensure that two persons of the grader management staff are present each day unless Processing Manage and/or Complex Manager has approved otherwise.Assist Grader Manager to ensure that a member of the management staff is present while subordinates are working.Possess and bring to work all tools listed on attached tool sheet.Assist Grader Manager with preoperative inspection of entire processing area to ensure all components are running properly.Assist Grader Manager in performing daily sanitation inspection of egg grader cleanliness.Assist Grader Manager to ensure that the run sheet is followed and that operation is set to run accordingly. Assist Grader Manager to ensure that all denatured barrels are properly placed, prepared, filled, labeled and stored in the cooler each night.Must alert (within a reasonable time frame) the Processing and/or Complex Manager to any urgent situations that require their attention or approval.Must regularly assist Maintenance Personnel when necessary in repairs and troubleshooting.Effectively communicate with Grader Manager, Quality Control, Maintenance, Flock Managers, Shipping and Receiving, Sanitation Manager, Complex Manager and Processing Manager (where applicable).Ensure egg washer soap levels, sanitizer and rinse levels (before start-up and during operation,) verifying proper differential between wash and rinse temperatures are within regulation. In addition, the egg washer must be drained, cleaned, and refilled at required time intervals.Assist Grader Manager in monitoring of egg quality, proper egg weights and dates, and immediately correcting problems if they exist and alerting Quality Control to assist.Assist Grader Manager with regularly monitoring and adjusting carton and box dating (ensuring that the daters have the correct Julian date, expiration date, plant number, and that all printing is legible.)Assist Grader Manager to ensure that grader is kept neat, clean, and organized during operations.Assist Grader Manager to ensure completion and transmittal of all appropriate paperwork associated with egg grader operations and performance.Assist Grader Manager with grader team member familiarization with all company policies.Must treat all team members, customers, and visitors with respect and courtesy and in compliance with all State and Federal laws.Familiarize self and comply with SQF, GMP, HACCP, and all other programs deemed required.Familiarize self and comply with all safety and company policies such as those listed within the Rose Acre Farms Team Member Handbook.Administrative duties such as data entry, assisting with HR related duties, safety reporting, accident prevention, and investigations.Responsible for ensuring compliance and success with Grader related program audits.Must perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving entire body such as climbing, lifting at least 50 pounds, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials with or without reasonable accommodations.The Assistant Grader Manager may be required to work over and in other departments as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

High School education is required; additional training and certification in manufacturing and/or farm operations, office procedures and computer applications, is desired.Must be familiar with and able to easily navigate general computer applications including but not limited to Open Office, MS Word, Excel, LIM, E-mail and various other applications as required.Must be reliable, and be extremely punctual, as efficient grading operations require the operation to start on time daily.Possess excellent teamwork skills – as with many jobs this position requires a “team” attitude.Ability to handle multiple tasks at once– the ability to deal with stressful situations.Must have excellent communication and people skills, including the ability to train new team members.Must be honest and ethical and perform all functions of job in such manner.Must be reliable and responsible. Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks efficiently.Must be self-motivated and willing to take on new responsibilities.Must be flexible and adaptable, being open to change (positive and negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once.Must be persistent in the face of obstacles.Must be able to maintain composure even in very difficult situations.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
