Day Unit Manager

High Close is a successful non maintained special school offering day and residential provision for young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs.  Staff within the care teams support young people to be able to access their education and  enable them to learn and develop social skills and coping strategies whilst providing them opportunities to experience new challenges and adventures.

It's a challenging environment, calling for resilience, patience and tolerance, helping us to ensure children can achieve success in a safe environment.   Staff have the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary team including Education, Therapy and Family Resource Team. Staff are given extensive training to meet the needs of the young people including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop a new day unit focused on the Year 11 pupils and supporting their transition to their next placement. The post calls for a motivated and enthusiastic practitioner to  work within our professional and highly motivated care staff teams providing holistic care to ensure the best outcomes for our young people. You would be responsible for working alongside the other day unit managers to support the young people in the day provision and for developing the working practice in the Year 11 unit to ensure that young people have the best opportunities when it comes to their next placement. The role will include developing independence sessions within the school timetable that you and your team will lead for Year 11 young people in line with the standards for Preparation for Adulthood. You would be required to lead and manage a small team of day unit project workers and ensure supervisions and support are in place for your team.

You will be required to work Monday to Friday. Care staff work additional hours during term time so they can have 13 weeks paid holiday a year. Staff are also given a paid day off on their birthday and there are a number of other wellbeing supports available to staff such as the Employee Assistance Programme and perks scheme.

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification and Job Description. This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.
