What success looks like in this role:

Overview:

As a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) specializing in Multi-Database Management, you will be a key member of our team responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of various database systems. Leveraging your expertise in managing a diverse range of database technologies, you will ensure the database infrastructure's optimal performance, reliability, and security. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the organization's database management needs and drive strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and implementation of database architectures for relational (SQL Server, Oracle) and NoSQL databases.Deploy and configure database instances across different environmentsMonitor database performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks through optimization techniques such as indexing, query tuning, and database parameter tuning.Implement and maintain high availability solutions, including clustering, replication, and failover mechanisms, to ensure continuous availability of critical databases.Establish and enforce database security policies and access controls to safeguard sensitive data. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC) by implementing appropriate security measures and auditing practices.Design and maintain backup and recovery solutions to protect against data loss and facilitate rapid recovery during system failures or disasters.Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify issues and ensure the health and performance of database systems.Utilize monitoring tools and dashboards to track key metrics and trends.Conduct capacity planning exercises to forecast future resource requirements and scale database infrastructure accordingly.Collaborate with infrastructure teams to allocate resources effectively and optimize cost.Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Respond to database-related incidents and service interruptions in a timely manner, following established incident management processes.Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline routine database administration tasks, such as provisioning, patching, and configuration management.Leverage scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and automation tools to improve efficiency and consistency.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

 University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, focusing on managing multiple database platforms.Intermediate English proficiency (all skills)Proficiency in designing, deploying, and maintaining relational and NoSQL databases.Hands-on experience with database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management.Strong understanding of database architecture, data modeling, and SQL query optimization techniques.Experience working with cloud-based database services in Azure, other cloud-base databases are optional (e.g. Amazon RDS)Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles are desirable.Migration Skills: Data Migration: The DBA must know how to move data from on-premises systems to the cloud and vice versa. This involves understanding the differences in structure, SQL syntax, and limitations.Migration Planning: Design strategies to minimize downtime during migration and ensure data integrity.Security & Compliance: Data Security: Protect sensitive data and ensure systems comply with security regulations.Backup & Recovery: Set up and manage regular backups to prevent data loss.Knowledge of Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with Server, Storage, and Cloud Network services.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Effective communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work in a cross-functional team environment.Intermediate knowledge of ITIL - Agile Methodologies, certifications is a plus.Relevant certifications in the DBA arena would be a plus.
