The DBA Associate role will collaborate with a team of database administrators to support the USAP Enterprise Data Warehouse and BI solutions built on either cloud or on-prem platform. This is a primarily remote role but the ideal candidate will reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Collaborate with Experts: Works alongside talented EDW ETL/BI developers, Business Analysts, and QA teams to understand database requirements, design solutions, and deliver comprehensive On-Prem and Cloud DBA services.
+ Design the Future: Contributes to the design and expansion of data marts, metadata, and data models, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.
+ Drive Innovation: Is a key player in developing the next generation of our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Data Marts, leveraging the latest technologies to create impactful data solutions.
+ Lead Cloud Transformation: Takes the lead in migrating databases and data processes from on-premises to cloud platforms, with a focus on Azure Synapse, and unlock the full potential of cloud-based data solutions.
+ Secure & Optimize: Sets up, monitors, and maintains database security and software, ensuring robust performance and compliance. Proposes and implements performance and resource optimization strategies in collaboration with EDW development teams.
+ Solve Real-World Problems: Conducts root cause analysis for production-related database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
+ Deliver Exceptional Support: Provides daily maintenance, monitoring, and problem resolution for production and development databases, ensuring seamless operations for internal customers.
+ Stay Ahead of the Curve: Monitors database usage and network performance to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure optimal functionality.
+ Be a Reliable Partner: Participates in an On-Call rotation to support production databases, ensuring 24/7 reliability and performance.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):
+ Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field. (If you’ve got the skills and experience, we want to hear from you—regardless of your degree!)
+ Experience: 3-5 years of experience in IT or a related field, with at least 3 years of hands-on SQL Database Administration experience. You’ve managed and supported multiple SQL databases on Windows platforms and know how to keep them running at peak performance.
+ Performance Guru: 3+ years of experience in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning. You know how to optimize databases for speed, reliability, and growth.
+ Cloud Mastery: 3+ years of experience with Python and Azure services like Storage Accounts, Data Factory, Key Vault, Synapse, and more. You’re comfortable working in hybrid environments and excited about the possibilities of cloud technology.
+ SQL Server Pro: 3+ years of experience with MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, stored procedures, TFS version control, and Azure DevOps Services. You’ve got hands-on experience configuring, monitoring, and optimizing SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, data backup, and deployment.
+ Data Visualization: Experience with Power BI and other reporting and analytical tools, turning raw data into actionable insights.
+ Cloud Migration: Experience with database migration to Azure is a big plus! If you’ve successfully migrated databases to the cloud, we’d love to hear about it.
+ Data Modeling: High proficiency in dimensional modeling techniques and their application, ensuring scalable and efficient data solutions.
+ Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills. You’re able to make sound judgments, collaborate effectively with both technical and business teams, and find creative solutions to complex challenges.
+ Industry Knowledge: While not required, experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. If you’ve worked in healthcare, you’ll bring valuable insights to the table!
