Gallagher & Co, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced MSSQL Database Administrator to join our growing team. As a MSSQL Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our company's Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring their security, performance, and availability. Your expertise will contribute to the ongoing success of our business operations. How you'll make an impact Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and related components. Monitor and optimize database performance, including index tuning, query optimization, and resource utilization. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of databases through backup strategies, replication, and failover clustering. Support Shadowbase implemented to synchronize data between HPE NonStop and MSSQL environments Administer database security measures, including user management, permissions, and roles, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies. Develop and maintain documentation for database environments, processes, and procedures. Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot database-related issues in applications. Provide technical support and training to end-users and other IT staff as needed. Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and decommissioning. Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical business operations and troubleshoot production issues. About You Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator, specifically working with Microsoft SQL Server. In-depth knowledge of SQL Server architecture, T-SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Experience with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization tools, such as Profiler, Execution Plans, and Extended Events. Experience with cloud-based SQL Server solutions, such as Azure SQL Database or Amazon RDS for SQL Server. Familiarity with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for SQL Server, including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping. Strong understanding of database security best practices, including encryption, auditing, and access controls. Proficient in Windows Server administration and PowerShell scripting. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Credentials and Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in database analysis and physical database design. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Prior experience with MSSQL database administration is a must. Strong working knowledge of project tracking, reporting and management.
