Data Visualization Engineer

The Role

You combine learnings about our business domain, users, and data to turn those into innovative visualizations. Ability to make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable, and usable, then deliver the data in a useful and appealing way to users. Excellent analytical skills, ability to work with large amounts of information and data to see the big picture Comfortable with juggling facts, figures, and number crunching Ability to look at numbers, trends, and data as a data scientist and come to new conclusions based on findings Develop expertise in business operations and how data supports those operations to provide the most effective business intelligence solutions possible Gather and document functional and technical requirements, and translate requirements into reporting solutions, analytic tools, and dashboards that, in turn, deliver actionable data to end users Develop an in-depth understanding of underlying data, data structures, and business uses of data Effectively communicates findings through empathetic and thoughtful analysis Establishes and fosters relationships with stakeholders to ensure success.  Strong understanding of how users interact with data, interaction design principles, and use of typography, color, and layouts, with a great eye for detail. Provide support as required to ensure the availability and optimized performance of developed business intelligence applications and reports Comply with standards, best practices, and policies defined for the team

The Requirements 

 3 - 5 years of experience in designing data visualizations is desirable. Experience working as a Data Scientist is desirable.Direct work experience in any BI tools: Dundas BI, Tableau, Spotfire, Microsoft PowerBI, PowerPivot, or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Data Bricks, or similar.Experience with production support and troubleshooting common report/data process issues.Ability to work remotely and virtually with stakeholders and users while maintaining high collaboration, clear communications, and meeting work expectations. Ability to work locally as needed. Math/statistics skills are a plus3 years of experience in an Agile SDLC is desirable.An understanding of user-centered design and usability testing is desirable. Experience with accessibility in web applications is a plus.Solid written and verbal communication skills.Ability to balance multiple priorities with acute attention to details.Bachelor’s degree in Design, Math, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Information Science or equivalent experience.Ability to present design and work samples of completed data visualization projects is required.Familiar with fact/dimension data modeling and validating results of data transformation processes.Exposure to extracting data from enterprise-level systems, such as CRMs, HRIS, or ERP, is a plus.Understands software development methodologies and best practices concerning database and report development, including reviewing and testing deliverables.Ability to document technical requirements for business processes and development needs.Ability to create presentation-ready visuals, mock-ups, charts, graphs, and summary reports in tight timeframes.Ability to organize time to meet project timelines and effectively solve common business intelligence problems with minimal guidance.
