Summary

Senior Data Scientist

· As a Senior Data Scientist at Ashley Furniture Industries, you will lead complex data science initiatives and provide technical guidance to junior team members while developing sophisticated analytical solutions across our retail, manufacturing, and supply chain operations. Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist.

· You will design and implement advanced machine learning models, conduct in-depth statistical analyses, and collaborate with business stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making that delivers measurable business impact.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

· Design and develop advanced machine learning models and statistical analyses to address complex business challenges

· Lead high-priority data science projects from conception to implementation and evaluation

· Mentor junior data scientists and provide technical guidance on methodologies and best practices

· Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions

· Identify opportunities for optimization and innovation across business processes

· Design and analyze experimental frameworks to measure the impact of implemented solutions

· Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and approaches to enhance the team's capabilities

· Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and technical teams

· Contribute to the development of data science standards and best practices

· Ensure quality and reproducibility of analytical work across the team

 

Technical Requirements

· Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for complex data manipulation and modeling

· Extensive experience with data science libraries and frameworks (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, XGBoost)

· Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, experimental design, and causal inference

· Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow) and their applications

· Proficiency in feature engineering, selection, and importance analysis

· Experience with model deployment and monitoring in production environments

· Knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib)

· Understanding of distributed computing for processing large datasets

· Familiarity with MLOps practices and CI/CD for machine learning workflows

· Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

 

Required Experience

· 5+ years of professional experience in data science or related analytical roles

· Demonstrated experience leading complex data science projects with significant business impact

· Experience mentoring junior team members and providing technical guidance

· Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams

· Experience in architecting and implementing end-to-end data science solutions

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, or supply chain domains

· Knowledge of demand forecasting, price optimization, or recommendation systems

· Experience with natural language processing or computer vision applications

· Background in customer segmentation and lifetime value modeling

· Familiarity with time series analysis and forecasting methods

· Experience with A/B testing and experimental design in business contexts

· Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding junior team members

· Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

· Strategic thinking with ability to align technical solutions with business objectives

· Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail

· Self-motivated with ability to work independently and drive projects forward

· Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills

 

Education

· Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

· Relevant professional certifications in advanced analytics are a plus

· Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities are valued
