Barbaricum is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Department of Defense’s Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) in accelerating the DoD’s adoption of data, analytics, and AI. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting data science solutions for a variety of technical use cases, contributing to the DoD’s mission-critical operations.ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, develop, test, and support informatics and data science solutions for a wide array of technical use casesApply analytical methodologies to diagnose data-related challenges, implement solutions, and evaluate performanceDocument and present requirements, design alternatives, and findings to team members and clientsDevelop strategic, baselined data modeling processes and accurately determine cause-and-effect relationshipsUtilize integrated development environments, data integration, data visualization, data mining, and analysis toolsMaintain and guide the development of common libraries and tools used by multiple teamsAid in formulating a strategy on how to achieve rapid prototypingQualificationsActive DoD Secret Clearance requiredBachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 1-3 years of experienceExperience with machine learning (ML) fields, e.g., natural language processing, computer vision, statistical learning theoryExperience in an ML engineer or data scientist role building ML modelsProficient in writing code in Python, R, Scala, Java, C++ with documentation for reproducibilityExperience handling terabyte-sized datasets, discovering hidden patterns, using data visualization tools, writing SQL, and working with GPUs to develop modelsExperience writing and speaking about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences, and giving data-driven presentationsAdditional Information
