Our Team
The Amazon Robotics Sortation Analytics team discovers insights in vast and varied robotic data to help our engineering teams understand how their technologies operate across Amazon’s network of warehouses. We collaborate with designers, software and hardware engineers, and operations teams to understand product requirements, make feature trade-offs, design, and operate new applications of Amazon Robotics technology. We conduct relevant, insightful analysis and communicate the results through white papers and presentations. Our methods include design of experiments, statistical modeling, machine learning, financial analysis, and data visualization.
Key job responsibilities
* Developing predictive models and simulations to analyze complex, large-scale datasets and uncover insights to improve customer experience, cost efficiency, capital investment effectiveness, and automation utilization.
* Creating compelling data visualizations that communicate end-to-end system performance and identify optimization opportunities.
* Establishing robust data analysis frameworks and KPIs to quantify the impact of your solutions and evaluate tradeoffs between potentially contending goals.
* Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate them into data-driven projects, and deliver impactful results.
A day in the life
You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams, program managers, and leaders throughout the organization to deliver projects aimed at characterizing and improving the performance of new robotic automation technology in Amazon's network of warehouses. In this role, you will use a combination of unified and disparate data sources to uncover insights delivered through decision-driving analytics white-papers and automated data visualizations to influence the development and deployment of highly innovative robotic technology. You will collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Engineers, and Program Managers to define and deliver world class models and insights to shape the robotic technology landscape.

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
- 2+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL, Hadoop/Hive) experience
- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- Master's degree in a quantitative field, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science experience
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
