Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a Summer 2025 Data Science Engineer (AI/ML Business Analytics) Intern. In this role, you will build various AI/ML models, leverage wide swarths of data to create dynamic reporting and help distill meaningful interpretation to drive business decisions. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge in several programming languages (chiefly Python and C), a strong data analytics and data modeling background, comfort with AI/ML (k-nearest neighbors, logistic regression) development and a knack for conveying data insights visually. This is a primarily remote internship opportunity with roughly one day per week spent on-site in Trumbull, Connecticut and/or Stratford, Connecticut. Must be a US citizen.
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science or Software Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college
- Familiarity in STEM/coding challenges
- Any exposure to Sikorsky/Lockheed Martin via collaboration
- Coursework encompassing data structures, algorithms, computing, data science and linear algebra
- Moderate proficiency in three or more of the following programming languages: Python, SQL (Microsoft or Oracle), C, C++, JavaScript, Angular
- Proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Google Charts, Power BI, etc.)
- Familiarity with AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) through LLMs, language processing, semantic search, k-nearest, neural networks, et cetera
- Demonstrated competency with data analysis and model development
- Must be a US citizen
Desired Skills:
- Exposure aerospace/defense, heavy manufacturing or large-scale CPG/FMCG industries
- Knowledge of statistical modeling software and threshold maintenance
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effectively presenting findings/updates to peers, customers and leadership
- Keen problem solving skills and an attention to detail

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
