Data Privacy Lead Patient Impact

We are looking for a Data Privacy Lead, Patient Impact who is highly collaborative and a “team player” with excellent communications skills, both spoken and written, to join us in our Legal Data and Digital team, based in our Smyrna, GA office.

 

About the role

This role recognizes the multi-faceted considerations required by UCB’s vision to unleash the full potential of data, especially personal data, while protecting individuals’ data and preserving their privacy. As data must be processed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, this includes accountability that data-related activities within Patient Impact are compliant with the company’s data privacy responsibilities.

 

Who you’ll work with

You will support and advise UCB Patient Impact’s leaders, and affiliate-based colleagues on data privacy-related topics, particularly those pertaining to patient facing activities such as marketing and patient support.

 

What you’ll do

Execute activities in alignment with the goals of the company and its data privacy policy, acting as an independent voice to maximize data opportunities within UCB, with particular attention to data opportunities in the United States.Support and drive compliance with data privacy activities within a patient value driver (PVD), advising the business on data privacy implications of business initiatives. The role will be integral to the Legal Data and Digital team (LDD) and will also assist with global data privacy projects and operations to foster a privacy first culture and integrating Privacy by Design.Ensure appropriate collaboration across relevant UCB stakeholders, and across the value chain and product lifecycles.Promote “Privacy by Design” principles on an ongoing basis within the Patient Impact patient value driver or corporate function.Assist in developing processes in support of a Privacy by Design framework; bring forward business perspectives to support continuous process improvement in the Legal Data and Digital team.Support embedding of the Legal Data and Digital team processes in relevant Patient Impact business processes.  As a trusted advisor to the patient value driver, understand upcoming initiatives impacting data privacy and keep the Legal Data and Digital team apprised of upcoming projects and resource needs. Train Patient Impact on basic data privacy principles and special considerations for marketed assets.Lead the Legal Data and Digital team incident identification and response activities in Patient Impact through privacy incident reporting, response, mitigation, and implementation of corrective measures within the patient value driver. Review and assess risks related to data privacy in Patient Impact projects, through processes provided by the Legal Data and Digital team. Track corrective measures and control implementation as necessary.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's Degree CIPP-US certification or equivalent2 years’ specialized experience in privacy in the pharmaceutical industry or 5 years’ general experience in privacy in the US life sciences industry or pubic health.

 

Preferred requirements

Demonstrated ability to be persuasive with influential stakeholders – internal and external – with excellent written and speaking skills.Extensive experience collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders.Experience performing privacy risk assessments, assessing and applying consent requirements. Advanced academic degree in legal or data-related or scientific field.Experience with, and working knowledge of, marketing technologies and practices and current knowledge of emerging regulations in this space. Experience with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, working knowledge of healthcare privacy related statutes such as HIPAA. Experience with US state privacy regulations.

 

 

This positions reasonably anticipated base salary range is $124,000 - $162,800 per year. The actual salary offered

will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related

knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
