Data Operations Specialist

The Data Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting operational aspects of the Chartway Data Warehouse product. This will include the production environment, adhering to and enforcing change management process, and supporting elements such as the Power BI environment. The Data Ops Specialist is also responsible for the daily operations required to support the data warehouse, such as ETL monitoring and troubleshooting, vendor partner relationship management including data flow issue identification, triage, communication, and follow through. This role would be responsible for aligning with release management aspects supporting the Data Engineering Team’s software development best practices that support the needs of Chartway’s business owners and stakeholders. The Specialist will partner with the Data Engineering team, Business Analytics team, as well as Subject Matter Experts in different departments to support the organization’s ability to analyze and leverage data and continue to evolve and pursue a data-driven culture of excellence. Responsible and Accountable for: + Assist and support the maintenance of data processing apparatus to support daily operations and data availability for all business functions to use data to drive decisions + Troubleshooting Pipeline interruptions by reviewing error Logs and file Data to determine the root cause. + Carefully running Scripts with parameters, verifying results in processing Logs, and correcting files. + Coordinate with vendor partners for incoming and outgoing datasets + Operate within and support agile software development principles including sprints and scrums to ensure continuity of development and deployment through industry standard code base management and versioning practices + Collaborate with Data Engineering department and Business Analyst Team + Support the maintenance of test and production environments such as patching of SQL instances + Support and maintain the primary analytical platform to include security and production pipeline functionality + Work within a team directly for the Data Operations Manager, developing and maintaining individual and organizational goals. + Following and supporting disaster recovery and Business Continuity for the data estate and related tools including assisting with database backup management + Stay up to date on Business Intelligence, enterprise data management industry trends and products. + Ability to communicate across the organization of technical data to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Basic understanding of environment architecture, on premises and cloud, preferably Azure cloud + Basic understanding of source code management, versioning software, and techniques + Familiarity and working knowledge with SQL + Some knowledge of data science technologies such as Python, R, Machine Learning, and production implementation (ML Ops) techniques + Exposure to cloud-based resources (Azure preferred) + Working knowledge or experience with an orchestration tool (SSIS or Azure Data Factory preferred) + Working knowledge or experience with an analytical processing (OLAP) tool (SSAS or Power BI preferred) + Ability to articulate and interpret results in a logical manner + Working knowledge or experience with data management systems, data warehouse methodology, data quality, data modelling, data governance, analytics, and predictive modeling + Awareness of current data management trends + Strong desire and expectation to continue learning and growing with the Enterprise Data Management and Analytical/Data Science industry + Superior written and oral communication skills, as well as superior interpersonal skills + Exceptional customer service orientation + Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment + Highly self-motivated and self-directed. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities Education and Experience: + Education: BS Degree in Economics, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related area, or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree in a related field and/or related certifications encouraged. + Experience: 2+ years working in a team oriented environment 2+ years of experience with database and server administration 2+ years of experience supporting data warehouses Proven data manipulation and querying in SQL Working Knowledge of Agile development methodology Preferred 3+ years of experience in financial services industry Chartway offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
