Position may be Remote, but local within Puerto Rico is preferred. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assist researchers in all aspects of statistical analysis, application, presentation, and publication by managing data. Develop production quality statistical graphics and statistical analysis; and produce written reports and summaries intended for presentation in consultation with CDC researchers. + Provide statistical software support, including development of novel software using existing software packages or languages or general-purpose software, such as C/C++. + Implement statistical analyses using a mix of statistical methods and tools, such as data summarization, linear and generalized linear mixed models; survey sampling; sample size computation; time series analysis; analysis of epidemiologic data, including logistic regression; categorical data analysis, including exact inference; analysis of dilution assays; design of experiments; spatial statistics; bootstrap, resampling and permutation methods; design and analysis of vaccine trials; design and analysis of clinical trials. + Employ at least one high-level statistical software package, such as Stata, S+/R or SAS, but will most likely use more than one routinely; other statistical software commonly used in CDC include JMP, StatXact, and PASS; data management tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access are used routinely. + Assist and help train researchers with statistical software use. + May use GIS software, such as ArcGIS, in various applications. These software tools are typically sufficient to produce appropriate statistical graphics, but post-processing in other software, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Adobe Acrobat, may be expected. + Provide detailed written reports of data management and analyses conducted to PRDH and Dengue Branch staff. + Perform specified portions or minor phases of mathematical statistical work in various scientific and public health areas. + Assist in the performance of mathematical statistical work where assignments consist of a portion of a larger project and are designed to provide developmental activities. + Perform data analysis, ensuring statistical accuracy in planning data collection procedures. + Conduct analytical investigations using scientific methodology and problem solving. + Prepare routine reports or applies knowledge of the technical rules and procedures applying to scientific projects and programs to maintain documentation and prepare analyses and reports of findings for tests and studies. + Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: + Bachelor's in relevant field. + Masters Public Health (MPH), statistics, or related field preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: + Knowledge of advanced theory of statistics/biostatistics is expected. + Strong SAS skills/experience- writing SAS code and debugging SAS code. + Experience with high-level statistical software packages such as Stata, S+/R or SAS, JMP, StatXact, and PASS. + Experience with large data sets required, specifically with public health surveillance data a plus. + Experience working within Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access for data management. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: + Experience with data management of epidemiological research is preferred. + Strong data visualization skills desired. Competent working with Tableau or PowerBI a major plus. REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: Must be able to pass a Federal Background Check.
