Description The Data Integrity Specialist II maintains the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the electronic master patient index (EMPI) and of the electronic health record (EPIC)Provides oversight and expertise to all sites and affiliates as it relates to the EMPI and data integrity of the electronic medical record (EPIC) This position is responsible for the EMPI maintenance and facilitation of Chart Correction functions, for all Emory Healthcare clinical entitiesManages and executes chart correction tasks within specific internal tools such as epic, including correcting scanned documents, patient updates, demographic updates, patient contact moves and reconciliation of patient informationCoordinates with multidisciplinary team in identification and resolution of urgent erroneous admission (overlay) scenarios such as EPIC Patient Identity TasksThis includes providing direction to multiple stakeholders about what steps to take with medical record documentation to ensure patient safety, reviewing and confirming corrections made by clinical users, and ensuring that down-stream systems receive the necessary updatesMonitors and replies to all communication sent to Chart Correction team in-basket and Service Now queueCommunicates with customers throughout the chart correction process, utilizing e-mail, phone calls, in-basket messaging, and Service Now updatesDocument outcomes of the chart correction process according to organizational policies. Maintains in-depth understanding of data flow between the EHR, various repositories (EMPI, Harmony, all legacy EMRs, etc.) and ancillary systems Attain a general understanding of site level information systems both active and historical (legacy) Assists clinical users in making chart corrections as needed Assists in training new Chart Correction employees and team members regarding hospital and department policies and procedures

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalency requiredAdditional post-secondary course work preferredRegistered Health Information Administrator or Technician (RHIA, RHIT) designation preferredEpic Patient Identity Certification preferred.Minimum of five (5) years experience related to health information, release of information, patient registration or patient billing required Minimum (3) years of experience working within an electronic health record required Prior electronic chart correction, patient demographic updates, patient mergers and customer service experience preferredEpic Patient Identity Certification preferred JUDGEMENT: Demonstrated ability to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities.
