Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Data Engineer (Multiple openings) in Chicago, IL.

Essential Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and manage ETL processes using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to efficiently load data from diverse sources into Azure Data Storage.Administer and optimize large-scale data processing using Azure Databricks and SparkSQL, ensuring high performance and scalability.Implement and maintain data storage solutions utilizing Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Database.Design and implement data migration strategies from on-premises systems to Azure, employing Azure Migrate and Lift-and-Shift approaches.Develop and refine HiveQL and SQL queries to enhance data retrieval and processing efficiency in Azure environments.Monitor and manage Hadoop clusters, ensuring optimal resource allocation and system performance.Implement DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) in big data environments, using tools like Azure DevOps and Jenkins.Ensure data security and compliance by implementing best practices in data governance, encryption, and access control within Azure environments.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data ingestion, processing, and storage to maintain system reliability and data integrity.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology & Management, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and 3 years data engineering experience.

Required Skills/Experience:
 

Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Designing and implementing data pipelines to process and transform large volumes of data using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks. 2) Designing highly scalable distributed data pipelines using big data technologies including Hadoop, Pig, Hive, and Sqoop. 3) Developing Hive ETL scripts to create tables for ad-hoc analysis, dashboarding, and reporting. 4) Creating UAT test cases and test scenarios in line with functional and non-functional requirements. 5) Designing dimensional data models, robust data schemas and optimizing intricate SQL queries. Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.
