Position: Data Engineer

Job Description: 

Forward Air is seeking a Data Engineer to work in the IT department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable cloud-based streaming data solutions that can enable real time analytics and mission critical data visibility to our organization. They must be comfortable working across departments with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

Core Responsibilities & Duties: 

Extract, cleanse, transform data using Azure and AWS technologies  Model complex datasets from multiple structured and semi structured sources Build and maintain documentation on data catalog, data model and data lineage Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges Collaborate with product, analytics and integration teams Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field 5+ years of experience in data engineering Experience in data modeling using cloud technology Knowledge of SQL, NOSQL, Python, Spark, Azure Datafactory, Azure Functions, EventHub, Databricks, Warehouse Star schema Experience with databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, DB2 Experience with optimizing data pipelines Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)  Ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic Must be a self-starter that does not require constant direction Strong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of operations/users Ability to drive/display ownership/proactive behavior
