Data Center Technician

Description We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia. In this long-term contract position, you will play a critical role in managing and supporting data center infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations and high availability. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment and is comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee infrastructure installation requests, managing projects from initiation to completion.
• Certify and verify network connections and related peripherals before handing them off to the appropriate teams.
• Support power-related events, including power-downs and single-sided events, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Coordinate with electrical contractors to meet service level agreements and project deadlines.
• Provide accurate project estimates and document requirements by interpreting schematics and collaborating with IT and project management teams.
• Manage infrastructure installation tasks, including power surveys, rack installations, and cabling for both fiber and copper.
• Track and procure necessary equipment and materials, ensuring proper inventory management and purchase order tracking.
• Assist with rack-level capacity management and monitoring to optimize data center performance.
• Prepare and deliver root cause analysis reports for power-related issues, ensuring continuous improvement.
• Actively participate in meetings to discuss infrastructure projects and provide updates or insights as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a data center or similar environment.
• Proficiency in network operations center (NOC) processes and protocols.
• Hands-on experience with cable assemblies and cable installations.
• Familiarity with Microsoft tools and technologies.
• Solid understanding of Cisco hardware and related configurations.
• Knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) systems and their maintenance.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to interpret technical schematics, diagrams, and project requirements. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
