**The Position**
The Data Center Manager and local IT Infrastructure contact for production (ITINF4OT) will be responsible for the effective management, operation and security of the Data Center facilities throughout Boehringer Ingelheim’s Japan region. This individual will also serve as the primary point of contact for Operational Technology (OT) related inquiries, ensuring that IT Infrastructure services are used accordingly and meet the operational needs of the business taking global scalability and operability into consideration. The ideal candidate **must** be bilingual in English and Japanese, with a strong background in Data Center and facilities management and IT Infrastructure. This role is within a highly regulated industry, requiring strict adherence to compliance and regulatory standards.
**Responsibilities**
Business Partnering
+ Manage and maintain the daily operations of the Data Center, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
+ Actively drive standardization, global solutions, and best practices.
+ Build relationships with key stakeholders and continuously improve end user satisfaction.
+ Act as the primary liaison between the IT Infrastructure department and OTusers for all IT Infrastructure-related matters.
+ Gather feedback from OT users to enhance IT Infrastructure services and align them with operational requirements, global scalability and operability.
Technology Expertise
+ Collaborate with local facilities department for managing equipment in Boehringer Ingelheim’s Data Centers throughout Japan – e.g. power supply, UPS, air conditioning, fire extinguishing system, security, alarm system, etc.
+ Provide on-site support for managing of the IT equipment (servers, storage, etc.) installed in the Data Centers – e.g. oversea the purchasing process, physical installation (racking, network wiring, powersupply preparation) of servers and coordination of application/OS installation.
+ Management of access rights to Data Centers in Japan.
+ Inventory management of equipment physically installed in Data Centers.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, particularly those relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
Collaboration
+ Develop and implement policies and procedures for Data Center operations, including security, disaster recovery and maintenance.
+ Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and support of IT Infrastructure services.
+ Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
+ Strong end user focus.
+ Participation in an on-going mission critical multi-year project through to 2030 building out new facilities and Data Centers for Boehringer Ingelheim plant in Yamagata.
+ Provide timely and accurate responses to queries regarding IT Infrastructure services, escalating issues to appropriate teams when necessary.
+ Collaborate with Global IT Infrastructure team members on topics related to the above and participate in frequent global meetings/conference calls.
Leadership
+ Responsible of handling of all Data Center contract management (services and costs).
+ Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective operations.

**Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field.
+ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Data Center management, IT Infrastructure or similar
+ Proficiency in both English and Japanese (spoken and written).
+ Strong knowledge of Data Center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, power and electrical systems.
+ Skilled people manager and excellent management skills.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
+ Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
+ Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to Data Center operations, especially in highly regulated industries.
+ Has the emotional intelligence and adaptability to thrive in any environment.
+ Familiarity with the Japanese market, culture, and business practices.
**Qualifications**
+ Certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional), CDCS (Certified Data Center Specialist) or similar.
+ Experience with disaster recovery test planning and execution.
+ Experience with Distributed Control Systems or SCADA systems used by OT.
+ Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
**Location**
The preferred work location would be Yamagata Prefecture at Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim’s Yamagata plant and the work hours are flexible. The secondary (alternative) work location would be at Tokyo, Osaki Headquarters office. Work can be done both on-site and remote (hybrid) based on the subject matter and alignment with the local administrative manager (L4 Head of IT Infrastructure GTU Japan) , and also the global functional manager (Global IT INF Custom Datacenter Solution)
