What this job involves –
As a Data Center Asset and Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all equipment deliveries, coordinating pick-up and installation, ensuring the receipt of IT hardware and data center supplies, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work well in a team will be critical in supporting a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at our data center facility.
What is your day to day:
Managing and tracking inventory of all data center assets, including server racks, IT equipment, and suppliesConducting regular audits of data center inventory to ensure accuracy and compliancePreparing server racks, IT equipment, and data center supplies for delivery and coordinating pick-up and installationConfirming delivery/receipt of hardware and supplies with appropriate IT stakeholdersUpdating inventory management systems with new arrivals, deployments, and decommissionsResolving any inventory-related issues in a timely manner to minimize downtimeSupporting the shipment and receipt of IT equipment for deployment/storageMaking arrangements for carrier pick-up based on shipping instructions and data center security protocolsMaintaining an adequate supply of data center materials and suppliesForecasting inventory needs and initiating reorder processes when necessaryReporting defective IT equipment or questionable conditions to the data center supervisorKeeping the data center work area and equipment clean and orderlyFollowing prescribed safety regulations and data center-specific protocolsComplying with all policies and procedures of JLL and the data center facilityPerforming any other inventory-related duties and tasks assigned within the data center environmentDesired experience and technical skills –
Required:
At least one (1) year working in inventory management, preferably in a data center or IT infrastructure environmentStrong computer skills and experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.Experience with inventory management systems and asset tracking softwareFamiliarity with basic data center operations and IT equipmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills for inventory optimizationStrong customer service and interpersonal skillsHigh degree of accuracy for handling sensitive IT equipment and managing inventory within the data centerAbility to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and inventory counts in the data centerAbility to detect emergency alarms (auditory and/or visual) in a noisy data center environmentAbility to lift 60 lbs. repeatedly, including server equipment and UPS batteriesPreferred:
Associate's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related fieldBasic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centersFamiliarity with data center security protocols and handling of sensitive equipmentExperience with barcode scanning and RFID technology for inventory trackingKnowledge of inventory best practices and lean management principlesLocation:
