ResponsibilitiesThis internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in key aspects of data management, including data mapping, code change management, logic modifications, and code versioning. You will be working closely with our talented team of data analysts and engineers, participating in projects that involve cloud technologies and advanced data operations workflows.
As a Data Analyst Intern, you will contribute to building and maintaining robust data pipelines, improving data quality, and ensuring effective data governance across various systems and platforms.
Potential Responsibilities Could include:
Assist in data mapping activities by helping to identify relationships and structures between different data sources, ensuring consistency and accuracy across datasets.Participate in the process of managing and implementing code changes related to data processes and pipeline configurations.Help with the documentation of changes and track code revisions.Collaborate with DataOps and engineering teams to modify and optimize data pipelines, workflows, and scripts. Gain exposure to cloud platforms like Azure and GCP, working with cloud-native tools and services for data storage, processing, and management.Assist in developing, debugging, and maintaining OOP code (e.g., Python, Java, or similar languages) that is central to data operations, automation, and system integrations.Work with version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage code changes, collaborate with other team members, and ensure smooth integration of updates and features.Collaborate with the Data Governance team to ensure that data is accurate, secure, and compliant with regulations. Participate in audits and tracking of data lineage and quality metrics.Help analyze and interpret data, producing meaningful insights that support business decisions. Assist in visualizing data trends and preparing reports for stakeholders.Document code changes, data mapping decisions, and key processes. Contribute to internal reports and presentations to communicate progress and findings effectively to leadership teams.RequirementsEducation:
High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.Additional Preferences Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Systems, Healthcare IT, or a related field.Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure or GCP) and their role in data management and analytics.Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar.Experience with data mapping tools or technologies.Basic knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and database management.Exposure to data analytics, business intelligence, or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).Familiarity with version control tools like Git.Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.Interest in data governance, data quality, and operational efficiency.Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and data requirements (e.g., HL7, HIPAA compliance).Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to collaborative projects.Why Join Our TeamWhen you join Ascension, you join a team of over 134,000 individuals across the country committed to a Mission of serving others and providing compassionate, personalized care to all.
