The Energy Storage Research Alliance (ESRA, https://energystoragera.org/) is a US Department of Energy funded collaborative research project led by Argonne National Laboratory and involving 14 partner organizations. ESRA targets the fundamental science of beyond-Li-ion energy storage technologies with the aim to improve their capacity, durability, and sustainability. ESRA has an immediate opening for a predoctoral/postdoctoral researcher position in research data management.
Position Overview
The candidate will manage and coordinate data activities across ESRA. You will work closely with researchers including laboratory scientists, professors, postdoctoral researchers, and students, to facilitate the use of data management tools, develop data sharing protocols, and assist in the curation and open access of datasets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement data management strategies to support research activities across multiple institutions.Collaborate with researchers to establish data management tools and workflows.Work closely with ESRA management and PIs to establish data sharing and accessibility protocols and tools.Provide training and support to researchers on data management tools and best practices.Stay updated with the latest advancements in data management technologies and methodologies.Position Requirements
Experience in energy storage research, from an experimental (electrochemistry, materials synthesis, or characterization) or computational simulations perspective, is required.Proficiency in Python programming is required. Familiarity with REST APIs is desirable.Master’s (predoctoral) or PhD (postdoctoral) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related area is required. Coursework in computer science or data science is desirable.Familiarity with research data management tools (examples include: Git/GitHub, Pandas, Globus, Docker, Dryad, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Milvus) is desirable.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, is required.Job Family

Full timeThe expected hiring range for this position is $67,639.00 - $106,725.06.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
