Data Analyst
Data Lead Location: Australia (onshore) – preferably Melbourne About the Role As a Data Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the data strategy, architecture, and governance within the organisation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring data integrity, availability, and accessibility while leading a team of data professionals to achieve organisational objectives. This role includes managing the complete data lifecycle, addressing data quality issues, and setting up data frameworks to support AI/ML and business intelligence initiatives. The role also requires working within established program methodologies and bringing assertiveness to drive data-related initiatives. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the data strategy aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives. Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data architecture, databases, and data integration processes. Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all data platforms, including Configuration Management Database (CMDB) data. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions. Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures, particularly in handling sensitive and personal data. Implement data lifecycle management practices, including data creation, updates, archiving, and purging. Set up and optimise data environments to enable AI/ML applications and maximise business intelligence. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data management and analytics. Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis and reporting. Manage relationships with external data vendors and service providers. Work within established program methodologies, ensuring data initiatives are aligned with broader organisational projects. Bring assertiveness and drive to the role, ensuring data strategies and initiatives are implemented effectively and efficiently. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Proven experience in a data leadership role, with a strong track record of managing data teams and projects. Expertise in data architecture, data integration, and database management. Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles, including handling sensitive and personal data. Proficient in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python, R, etc. Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. Ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable business insights. Experience with data lifecycle management, including CRUD operations, archiving, and purging. Experience working within program methodologies and an ability to integrate data initiatives into larger organisational projects.
