Yes County Albany Street Address 50 Wolf Road City Albany State NY Zip Code 12232 Duties Description Under the direction of a Data Analyst 3, the Data Analyst 2 will devise methods for identifying data pattern and trends in data sources. Duties include but are not limited to:• Devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in data sources.• Conduct thorough industry trend analysis to assist in the office’s efforts to inform strategic decision-making.• Research new data sources and analytical tools and recommend solutions.• Identify analytical linkages between parts of NYSDOT to help drive operational efficiency.• Assist in establishing key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of Department decisions.• Conduct or coordinate tests to ensure that business intelligence solutions are consistent with defined needs.• Test, validate, and reformulate models to ensure accurate prediction of outcomes of interest.• Model pavement bridge, and other asset performance over time based on various funding and project scenarios.• Draft new functions or applications in programming languages to conduct analyses.• Apply advanced statistical methods to Department-wide data.• Perform statistical tests on datasets to determine data quality and integrity. Evaluate system performance and its effect on data quality.• Identify and perform root-cause analysis of data irregularities, and present findings and proposed solutions to program staff.• Develop queries to retrieve and analyze data for project reporting. Create written reports and effectively communicate and present results.• Assess data structures and how they can be used to produce desired reports.• Prepare reports to external entities, such as the federal government, to meet contractual requirements.• Create ad-hoc and routine reports and dashboards to increase access to meaningful data for end users and other units.• Serve as subject matter expert regarding data integrity and perform quality assurance activities.• Supervise lower-level staffResponsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations. Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent service as a Data Analyst 1 OR bachelor’s degree and three years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.*Substitution: A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of the specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience.Your required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education.
