With advanced training, maintains competence in all Cytology practices, to perform pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease. May be responsible for specimen/material receipt, preparation, interpretation, and archival/retrieval, according to department policies and procedures. Works cooperatively with physicians, clients, and staff to facilitate superior patient care and to represent the laboratory positively by acting with courtesy, dignity, respect, and professionalism. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department. **Job Description** : **EDUCATION:** Bachelor's: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university or equivalent education/experience **CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:** Certified Cytotechnologist **TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:** 2 years recent relevant experience. **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:** Demonstrated advanced knowledge and technical competence in specimen collection and preparation, laboratory operations, interpretation, and quality assurance in cytology. Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected time-frames. Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks. Demonstrate sound judgment and problem solving relevant to assigned duties. Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume, unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failures, shift-to-shift hand-offs, priority test orders, and specimen integrity issues. Ability to follow standard practices, processes, and procedures in sequence. Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures aimed at ensuring the privacy and safety of patients and staff. Ability to compassionately and effectively interact individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors.
