Job Summary

The Customer Compliance Specialist will support the Supply Chain Manager, Legal, and Custom Compliance team. This role provides guidance and business support to Business Line and Operational sites as it pertains to domestic and international custom regulations, tariffs, and movement of goods. 
 

Job Responsibilities

•    In-depth knowledge of import and export goods, including customs clearance and documentation.
•    Monitor shipments and coordinate with customs, carriers, and vendors to ensure timely arrival of goods
•    Recognizes and helps prevent violations of customs laws.
•    Responsible for timely and correct reporting to customs authorities (CBP).
•    Advising and sharing information with internal and external customers on customs procedures.
•    Manage customs master data in ERP and customs software.
•    Assist customs authorities on audits and investigations with coordination with corporate.
•    Provide analysis of applicability of Free Trade Agreements such as USMCA.
•    Provide input for product classification with HTS/ITAR/EAR etc.
•    Support efforts for managing duty recovery efforts and value reconciliation.
•    Supports and performs post-importation and export audits.
•    Maintains regulatory required customs records.
•    Assists in the development and testing of new systems to ensure they have the proper functionality to meet the department’s needs.
•    Generates and analyzes import data to correct any customs entry errors, develop KPIs, and identify refund and duty saving opportunities across the division.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
•    3+ years' experience working in a customs role with a degree and 5+ years without a degree 
•    Experience with domestic and international customs compliance
•    Knowledge of customs procedures for advice and for sharing information.
•    Knowledge of local customs legislation
•    Knowledge of harmonized tariff codes
•    Excellent business English communication skills (written and spoken)
•    Ability to understand Customs Documentation
•    Ability to work independently
•    Ability to accurately enter data
•    Highly collaborative and team player
•    Able to pay close attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
•    GKN Aerospace Experience
•    Aerospace Industry Experience 
•    License Customs Broker preferred or to be obtained in 2-3 years
 

Compensation Range

The compensation for this position is between $92,000 - $110,000.
