Customer Support Engineer - mechanical engineer
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Grade 12 or equivalent. National diploma in mechanical engineering or a technical trade qualification (such as a trade test pass in diesel fitting) Electrical qualification or experience is an added advantage. At least 4 years of engineering experience (post qualification). Experience in field service would be advantageous but not essential Valid driver’s licence and passport  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing technical support and resolving queries with sales staff, branches, customers, OEM’s and service partners (including site visits). Conducting site tests on engine installations to ensure compliance with diesel technical specifications. Conducting engine failure analysis on site (including underground) and in-service partner workshops. Compiling engine failure analysis reports Distribution of technical documentation Conducting technical product training Conducting service partner audits Knowledge and Skills
Well-developed knowledge of diesel engines Ability to acquire company product knowledge Basic computer (PC) knowledge General knowledge and understanding of safety legislation Experience leading to an in-depth understanding of diesel power’s EDP systems Good Computer skills Well-developed planning, organizing and job-coordinating skills Strong communication skills – English language (verbal and written) Well-developed report writing and presentation skills Well-developed diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to exercise discretion and judgment
