Overview GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB . The Custodian is a caretaker of the building and grounds, both interior and exterior. They are charged with ensuring its proper cleaning, maintenance and repairs. In addition, the job entails a support staff position to assist with Food pickup and storage for the various programs. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . + Maintain cleanliness of building and property according to maintenance schedule. + Remove snow from sidewalks as needed. + General maintenance of grounds/ main entrance lobbies/ and sidewalks. + Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary. + Assist with the supervision of Community service workers and volunteers daily or as needed. + Perform repairs as needed throughout the building and report any repairs to the officer and advise if a professional needs to be called in. + Pickup of donated items, run errands, ensure vehicles are serviced and kept up to date. + Assist with unloading of deliveries and packing deliveries away. + Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition. + Assist with Red Kettle campaign and Christmas program in any way needed. + Prepare all meeting rooms and set up for programs as directed. + Report to the Corps Officers when there are insufficient cleaning supplies. + Assist in other areas as requested by the Corps Officers to carry out the total mission of The Salvation Army. + Other routine maintenance duties as assigned by the Corps Officer SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : NONE Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE . + High School Diploma or Equivalent + Able to lift 50 pounds + Requires at least 1 year of experience in current janitorial methods and procedures used to maintain a multi-use facility. + Experience in or ability to learn general building maintenance. SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS. + Valid Driver License that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements + Electric, plumbing, heating/cooling, painting and dry-wall experience preferred Salvation Army Mission Statement The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.
