Job purpose
The Culinary Chef Co-Create culinary-driven gold standards and consumer-inspired concepts across a wide variety of food categories with R&D partners and other chefs.
Responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within our corporate environment. Leading a Culinary Center to deliver high-quality, innovative, and nutritious meals that align with our company's standards and values. This role requires creativity, leadership, and a passion for culinary arts.
Duties and responsibilities
Menu Development: Design and create diverse and appealing menus that cater to the preferences and dietary needs of employees and clients.
o Develop culinary applications that demonstrate the breadth and value of the McCain portfolio of Potato and appetizer products for multiple channels and accounts.
o Build culinary-to-culinary connections with key customers.
• Food Preparation and Presentation: Ensure all food preparation and presentation are of the highest quality, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
o Represent McCain to our key customers by presenting concepts, prototypes, and innovations in-person demos as well as virtual tele-tastings.
o Deliver the presentation offsite of McCain, whether at a customer or distributor location.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of culinary professionals, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
o Partner with Innovation team, customer, and Brand Marketing & Insights team to identify and explore current and future trends that inspire consumers.
o Collaborate with R&D and other technical business units to evaluate and explore branded and innovation products using different cooking/holding platforms to find solutions for customer needs.
• Budget Management: Manage culinary budgets effectively, including food costs, inventory control, and kitchen equipment maintenance.
o Responsible for managing supplies and office cleaning products, including inventory control and purchasing.
• Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with food vendors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of ingredients.
• Event Catering: Coordinate and execute corporate events, meetings, and special functions, providing exceptional culinary experiences.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular inspections and audits.
Act as a McSafety ambassador both within and outside the company.
Qualifications
• 10 years of experience, encompassing both restaurant and corporate environments.
• Proven experience as a Chef or Culinary Manager in a corporate or upscale dining environment.
• Culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary school preferred. Food Science knowledge is a plus.
• Membership in RCA, and/or similar industry organizations preferred.
• Microsoft Office skills required.
• Proficient in English.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at engaging both large groups and individuals. Comfortable and effective in digital media events, trainings, and projects requiring on-camera presence.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Creative culinary skills with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Analytical thinker with strong business acumen.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
