The CTRS Specialist for the Counseling, Testing and Referral Services Program at AID Atlanta is a skilled community health educator who is primarily responsible for providing active Counseling, Testing and Referral and Linkage Services within the Wellness Center. The CTRS Specialist is responsible for conducting prevention counseling, testing and post – test counseling for HIV and other’s STI’s as defined by AID Atlanta.This position reports to the EDVS Program Manager. The individual is to perform all functions in observance of the Agency’s rules, regulations, philosophy, objectives and policies, including but not limited to the services and duties below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs HIV and STD testing without adverse events: ensures all laboratory forms are correctly completely and accurate results and provided to all patients Ensures quality standards for testing and counseling are maintained through completion of appropriate documentation and complies with all CQI/CLIA standards
Provides HIV/ AIDS/STD prevention services, testing and counseling, and behavioral interventions
Helps to identifies specific setting or venues in which high-risk members of the target population can be accessed.
Ensures that all necessary reports and documentation are collected and submitted to the appropriate entities in a timely and efficient manner as defined by agency policies
Attends trainings, conferences, and meetings, as requested by CTRS/Prevention Program Manager
Assists clients with scheduling follow-up appointments with medical providers and make referrals to programs as appropriate. Offer and initiate Prep, Work with Prep follow up. Duties include fast
track members for testing. Draw blood for labs. Create orders and submit those to the lab for processing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
BA or equivalent/Phlebotomist Certification.
Work experience in Prevention Presentation, Testing & Counseling Certification in the Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling
Knowledge of HIV/STD infection and AIDS
Knowledge of various Priority Populations and sensitivity to their norms, values, and cultural beliefs
Experience building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial community
relationships
