Critical Facilities Technician
Overview This position is responsible for the functionality of equipment within the Bank's Data Centers. Ensures all electrical, mechanical, fire, and life safety equipment is fully operational through inspection, maintenance, and repair. Responds immediately to emergency issues and monitors onsite vendors when outside consultation is necessary. Provides daily support to data center activities by maintaining crucial equipment uptime and resolving work order requests. Maintains on call readiness to react to any issues that may arise while scheduled for on call duty. Please note work schedule: Saturday and Sunday (Weekends) 12:00am (Midnight) to 12:00pm (Noon) Monday & Tuesday (Weekdays) 4:00pm to 12:00am Responsibilities Facility Support - Maintains equipment crucial for operating abilities, health and safety, and emergency response through regular inspection, conducting repairs, and addressing work order requests. Performs preventative maintenance and assists in facility inspections and reports. Aids in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in addition to corporate policies. Supports equipment that must maintain better than 99.8% uptime. Coordination - Partners with business units, managers, and other stakeholders on planned and completed work, risks, and impacts. Communicates clearly to identify and respond to ongoing equipment issues, and updates appropriately upon resolution. Vendor Management - Assists with vendor oversight including effective work order communications, service ticket management, performance & accountability monitoring, and vendor procurement activities. Emergency Response - Responsible for being on-call in emergency work situations and inclement weather. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Senior Base Building, facilities technician, or intermediate critical facilities OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Senior Base Building, facilities technician, or intermediate critical facilities Preferred: Current contractor/contingent worker for First Citizens Bank Preferred Education: Technical Trade School with applicable certifications Preferred Area of Study: Major Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC Preferred Area of Experience: Critical Facilities working in Data Centers License or Certification Type: Valid driver's license Required Skill(s): Technical background with a focus on HVAC systems, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Unit (PDU), transformers, and generators, Understanding of electrical and mechanical calculations required to maintain a data center environment, Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blue prints and diagrams, building codes, and OSHA codes, Understanding of National Electric Code and data processing environments, Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, fumes, heat, cold, etc., Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb and work off a ladder, and wear appropriate safety gear, Must reside within an acceptable distance from the primary location of work - 30 miles or 45 minutes Benefits are an integral part of total rewards and First Citizens Bank is committed to providing a competitive, thoughtfully designed and quality benefits program to meet the needs of our associates.
