Job Title: Facility Project and Commissioning Officer
Location: Sydney, Australia

Role Overview
As a critical member of the Facility Management team, the Facility Project and Commissioning Officer will play an essential role in guiding and supporting Capital Works and Customer Success projects. You will act as the key interface between project delivery teams and Facility Management to ensure smooth and successful project handovers without disrupting facility operations. Your responsibility will be to ensure all projects are planned, designed, implemented, and handed over with operational considerations and approvals effectively captured and processed.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Facility Management, Capital Works Development, Customer Success teams, contractors, and subcontractors to define interface requirements, timeframes, and notification periods.
Serve as the central point of communication between project delivery teams and the operations teams, facilitating the smooth flow of information and requirements.
Review and respond to RFIs and correspondence from principal contractors, ensuring no delays to the program and that all activities are aligned with operational needs.
Ensure the smooth handover of new capacity tranches and equipment, including documentation, training, commissioning, and ensuring all handover requirements are met.
Oversee the identification and closure of defects within the project prior to handover, ensuring facilities meet quality standards.
Ensure adherence to Facility Management processes including Permit to Work, SWMS, MOPS, FCR CAB submission, contractor access, isolations, cleanliness, and other safety protocols.
Review SWIs and MOPs presented by contractors and submit them for CAB approvals.
Manage contractor access, isolation procedures, pre-start meetings, and ensure alignment with company expectations.
Conduct inductions for project contractors and ensure they adhere to facility-specific safety protocols and rules.
Engage with the Customer Success team as the Facility-side lead for customer fit-out projects, ensuring compliance with standard operating practices.
Participate in the on-call roster to address any facility-related emergencies or issues outside of regular working hours.
 

Qualifications & Experience
In-depth knowledge of data center operations, including electrical and mechanical systems, cooling, electrical distribution, fire systems, and rack management.
Experience with building management systems, project software (Procore, Aconex), and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to negotiate and manage stakeholders and work collaboratively across teams.
Previous experience in data centers or similar facilities is highly desirable.
Electrical or Mechanical trade certificate, diploma, or degree is desirable.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a facility-related role, preferably within the data center industry.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills, with a focus on safety and quality.

Additional Information

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
On-Call Roster: Participation in the facility team’s on-call roster to provide after-hours support for facility-related emergencies.
