Position Information **Position/Rank** Critical Care Physician/Surgeon – Director of the CVICU - Assistant or Associate Professor **Department** 00265 - Cardiothoracic Division **City** Salt Lake City, UT **Track** Track Dependent on Qualifications **New Position to Begin** Late Summer/Fall 2025 **Details** **Critical Care Physician/Surgeon – Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit** The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Utah seeks an academic cardiothoracic surgical intensivist to act as the Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Successful candidates will qualify at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, possess excellent clinical skills, and strong interests in teaching and research. Board certification or eligibility in critical care is required. Primary specialty could include Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pulmonary/Critical Care, or Surgery. The successful candidate would join a team of critical care physicians and cardiothoracic surgeons to provide care for patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at the University of Utah. Responsibilities would include caring for the full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgery patients, including thoracic transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. Importantly, the Director will provide leadership for the entire unit and will interface with hospital leadership to advance the directives of the CVICU . As a member of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the applicant should possess a strong interest in the education of students, residents, and fellows as well as an interest in clinical, outcomes, or translational research.
