Credit Risk - Specialized - Vice President

As a Vice President in the Wholesale Credit Risk team, you will mainly focus on working on credit requests for non-flow and bespoke deals and transactions, including but not limited to any sponsor related deals, acquisition financing and structured transactions. As a Credit Officer in the Wholesale Credit Risk team belonging to the 2nd line of defense in the three lines of defense model, you will be expected to analyze credit requests, credibly challenge deal team members in the 1st line of defense on all aspects of the requests, including but not limited to the credit profile and financials of the counterparties, as well as legal and structural aspects of the transactions. You will play a crucial role in applying and leading appropriate credit risk and cash flow analysis including financial projection modelling, structural discussion, legal document/credit agreement negotiation, while also providing necessary and timely escalations to the senior management for their awareness and discussions. You will be expected to lead and manage such credit requests ensuring they align with our internal credit risk policies and risk appetite. You will collaborate with global teams and stakeholders while fostering a culture of excellence. Your work will directly contribute to the firm's success and the broader financial community.

Job responsibilities

Lead and manage end-to-end credit risk process working on credit requests for non-flow and bespoke deals and transactions such as sponsor related deals, acquisition financing and structured transactions  Provide credible challenge as credit officer in the 2nd line of defense to deal team members in the 1st line of defense, thereby ensuring effective structuring and documentation discussion and consideration as well as appropriate risk taking for the firm while adhering to credit risk policies and risk appetite Lead and manage end-to-end credit risk process for conducting comprehensive credit risk assessments and financial modelling and due diligence on clients’ business and financials as well as transactions  Develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across various teams and organizations Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure effective and appropriate credit portfolio risk management Provide continuous monitoring over existing portfolio financial performance, identifying risks and mitigants as well as recommending risk management strategies Stay informed on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry dynamics to identify any potential key and top risks for the key portfolio Work on team’s other priorities including but not limited to risk managing non-structured transactions and team’s overall credit portfolio Mentor and guide junior team members, promoting continuous learning

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit risk management, with experience having worked on sponsor deals, leveraged lending, acquisition financings Strong analytical skills for assessing complex financial structures and credit risk profiles Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement Familiarity with global credit risk regulations and industry standards Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment Proficiency in both Japanese and English

Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) Experience in leading cross-functional teams Knowledge of emerging trends in syndicated and leveraged finance and credit risk
