The Legal team supports Datadog's rapid growth by providing a wide range of legal services across a highly dynamic technology company, from driving new business via contracts and compliance efforts, to protecting Datadog's intellectual property. Datadog's Legal team works with virtually every team across the organization, from engineering to product to marketing.     

Datadog is looking for a Counsel, Litigation and Compliance to play an important role in the continued development and ongoing management of Datadog’s compliance program as well as managing litigation at Datadog.  In collaboration with other members of the Legal Department as well as partners across the business, this role will also help ensure that Datadog is managing and mitigating legal risks conducting its business in compliance with its internal policies, external regulations, and industry best practices. The Counsel, Litigation and Compliance will also provide strategic and legal advice to internal business partners and Datadog leadership in pre-litigation disputes and other adversarial matters, and, when necessary, through litigation.

What You’ll Do:

Assist in the review and development of compliance policies, procedures, and training to raise awareness, foster a culture of compliance Monitor developments and changes to applicable regulations as well as business strategy to make appropriate changes and enhancements to the compliance program Provide advice and counseling in key areas such as document retention, legal holds, and other litigation and compliance matters Analyze pre-litigation and litigation matters to inform and develop Datadog’s pre-litigation, litigation  and/or resolution strategy, negotiate and draft settlement agreements Supervise and manage outside counsel relationships in litigation matters, including case strategy, motions, briefs, discovery, trial preparation, staffing, budgets and invoices. Communicate effectively with insurance carriers and other third parties

Who You Are:

An experienced attorney with at least five years of litigation experience at a top rated law firm and/or global corporation  Able to navigate complex legal and regulatory compliance issues  Able to work with cross functional teams to drive results A strong leader with solid project management skills Able to take initiative and work with minimal supervision on independent projects An excellent communicator with high integrity and excellent judgment, and a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving and managing complex disputes to successful resolution Entrepreneurial, organized and comfortable working autonomously in an ambiguous, quickly changing environment Admitted, and in active status and good standing, with the New York state bar

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role at Datadog is:$170,000—$225,000 USD
