Cortez - Safety & Health Process Trainer

Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Process Safety Trainer at our Cortez operations. As part of the Process Safety team, the successful candidate will be a team player adding to our rewarding working environment. The ideal candidate will develop and conduct training programs for operators/technicians in the Process department, to ensure they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude to perform their assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.

Responsibilities:

Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, leadership development training, health, safety and environmental practices, and refresher training Coordinate and conducts on-the-job training activities with field trainers and supervisors Collaborates with management and area owners to determine training needs within organization Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops Excellent and demonstrated personal commitment to safety & health Selects or develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used prior to and at completion of training Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference materials Provide performance and talent feedback for field trainers to supervisors Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and contractors As required, participate in incident investigations (injury, significant near-miss, production loss and equipment damage), complete with detailed RCA (root cause analysis) and practical corrective actions. Ensure that the corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked Collaborates with management to gain knowledge of specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies Make presentations to crews/divisions/corporate as required and provide facilitation support for delivery of Nevada Gold Mines sponsored training events such as New Hire, Annual Refresher Training, contractor training & onboarding, etc. Drafts policies and procedures for area of responsibility and submits to management for approval  Perform other duties as needed

 

Qualifications:

Demonstrated safety leadership required Demonstrated professionalism, acting with integrity, conducting oneself both responsibly and taking accountability, being honest, and transparent to foster partnerships while helping to build a sustainable legacy within our host communities, required  5 to 10 years processing experience, preferable in an Autoclave and/or Milling Circuit required Demonstrated commitment to self-education required 3 years training or frontline supervisory experience, preferably in a mining environment preferred High school diploma or GED required MSHA Train-the-Trainer Certification (Surface) or be able to obtain one within first two months after hire required Drivers’ license required American Society for Training and Development - Certified Professional in Learning and Performance certification preferred MS Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook) required Familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as Plateau, Oracle, Pinnacle (PLM), Fluid Power Technologies, etc preferred Familiarity with Information Management Systems such as Oracle, Markview, Livelink, Sharepoint, RIMS, Intelex, etc preferred
