POSITION SUMMARY:
The Corrosion Technician is responsible for all facets of field executed corrosion prevention duties including cathodic protection, internal corrosion control, atmospheric corrosion control, protective coating and linings, materials selection and design/project support. The area of responsibility for this position will be MPLX G&P’s Four Corners (Permian) Area & Rockies South (Utah) Area. This position will be located in Bloomfield, NM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will be required to support assets in both the Four Corners Area (Bloomfield, NM) and Rockies South Area (Vernal, UT) requiring approximately 50% travel throughout the year.
Monitors and assesses corrosion control efforts for assigned gathering and processing pipeline and facility sites.
Performs external corrosion field-based duties such as cathodic protection surveys, atmospheric surveys, isolation testing, AC & DC interference testing, and coating surveys.
Performs internal corrosion field-based duties such as internal corrosion coupon monitoring, sampling, testing, etc.
Acts as field POC for corrosion projects within area including ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
Initiates remedial measures as necessary.
Maintains and performs repairs and preventative maintenance on corrosion control equipment.
Maintains complete, accurate and regulatory-compliant documentation.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Must hold a valid Driver License with excellent driving record
Must be able to pass drug test and background check
Familiar with corrosion database software (PCS) and field data collector
Familiar with Microsoft Office Products
PREFERRED:
AMPP/NACE CP1, AMPP CIP1, AMPP Internal Corrosion Technologist
3 to 5 years of Corrosion related work experience
Working Conditions:
Travel up to 50%. Overnight travel will be required.
Pipeline ROW’s, well sites, compressor stations, and processing plants, which may have the following conditions:
Driving, walking, and standing frequently
Exposure to adverse weather
Exposure to various hydrocarbon products and chemicals
Requirements for appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn.
