The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to join our dedicated team as a Corrections Plant Mechanic. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Plant Mechanic, you will provide skilled work in the repair of high-pressure boilers and related equipment which generate steam heat and hot water. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance of water and steam boilers, chillers and cooling towers, air compressor equipment, water expansion tanks, and standby generators. You will also have the opportunity to train inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of plant mechanic work through demonstration, explanation, and close supervision during work assignments. In addition, you will ensure proper control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations during work assignments. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: + Full-time employment, 40 hours per week + Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. + This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. + Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986.00 (before taxes). + You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: + One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school;or + Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities. Additional Requirements: + Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. + You must be able to perform essential job functions.
