Corporate Treasury Analyst

The Corporate Treasury Analyst position offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious professional seeking a meaningful role in MidWestOne’s Corporate Treasury function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the role supports key areas such as asset/liability management (ALM), interest rate and liquidity risk management, loan/deposit rate guidance, hedging and derivatives, investment portfolio management, and capital planning activities. This position is designed for a professional with strong analytical skills who can apply finance, investment, and banking principles that are aligned with industry standards, current laws, and bank policies. Success in this position also involves collaborating effectively across departments to meet objectives set by senior management and the bank’s Asset/Liability Management Committee (ALCO). This is an ideal opportunity for a driven analyst to develop advanced technical skills and play an essential part in the bank’s financial decision-making and risk management initiatives while contributing to the bank’s strategic goals. Responsibilities Asset/Liability and Interest Rate Risk (IRR) Management + Prepare monthly and quarterly ALCO reports summarizing the bank’s IRR and liquidity positions, Treasury initiatives, and proposed balance sheet strategies. + Assist in developing reports, presentations, and models to demonstrate the impact of balance sheet strategies on interest rate risk, liquidity, earnings, credit, and capital. + Conduct and support monthly and quarterly ALM processes, including data gathering, populating the ALM model with bank data, and validating assumptions. + Run the ALM model under various assumptions and scenarios, reviewing results to assess the impact on interest rate risk. + Analyze and validate modeling assumptions such as deposit betas, decay rates, and loan prepayment speeds to ensure model integrity. + Conduct annual back-testing of ALM model results to evaluate model performance and improve forecast accuracy. + Assist in reviewing and revising ALM-related bank policies. Liquidity Risk Management + Monitor and manage collateral levels to ensure adequate coverage for funding sources, including wholesale and public funding. + Assist in developing funding strategies for managing the bank’s liquidity position and associated risk exposures. + Support the bank’s daily funds management activities with wholesale funding relationships and the Federal Reserve by monitoring and projecting liquidity requirements and availability. + Prepare liquidity-related reports for ALCO, summarizing findings and recommendations. + Help ensure the bank’s liquidity position remains within established regulatory and policy guidelines. Deposit and Loan Rate Guidance + Provide analytical support for developing deposit and loan rate strategies that align with the bank’s ALM and ALCO objectives. + Develop and maintain an understanding of the bank’s deposit products, including applicable rate indices for interest-bearing products. + Assist in the preparation of communications for deposit and loan rate guidance. + Conduct market and competitor analysis to help with determining rate-setting recommendations. + Collaborate with internal groups to periodically update deposit pricing. + Assist with evaluating and responding to bid opportunities for public deposits. Investment Securities Portfolio + Assist with pre-purchase analysis of investment securities to support investment decision-making. + Perform quarterly investment impairment analysis, identifying potential impairments through pricing spread analysis. + Help gather and analyze data for investment strategy presentations and reports to ALCO and management. + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and developments to assist in the preparation of market insights and analysis for internal stakeholders. + Assist with broker communications relating to securities trades and settlement. Hedging and Derivatives + Provide analytical support for developing and monitoring hedging strategies to manage the bank’s interest rate risk and other financial exposures. + Conduct research on potential derivative products to support hedging strategy recommendations. + Support the monitoring of existing hedging and derivative positions and their performance. + Prepare data and reports on hedging and derivatives strategies for ALCO presentations. Communications + Performs a variety of written and verbal communication tasks and projects to ensure satisfactory completion/implementation of work or projects. + Interfaces with key managers on financial questions and strategies. + Establishes and maintains effective rapport with all levels of employees, internal/external auditors, senior managers, executive management, and boards of directors when applicable. + Create clear and accurate presentations for executive management and the board of directors highlighting financial plans, results, and trends. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of post high school education and related work experience. + Along with a bachelor’s degree in finance or related field, 5+ years’ work experience is required. + Preferred certification: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). + Fundamental knowledge of U.S. fixed income securities, including mortgage-backed securities, municipal, and corporate bonds. + Possess an understanding of bank balance sheet management concepts such as interest rate and liquidity risks and derivatives. + Understanding of how derivatives are utilized to manage risk exposures. + Strong organizational and project management skills. + Financial institution experience. + Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
