Corporate Governance Research Lead, China-Taiwan

Overview:

We are currently seeking a full-time Mandarin-speaking Senior Research Analyst and Team Manager. This position will be permanent and based in Sydney for the research and write-up of analyses of economic proposals, including mergers, acquisitions, and contests for corporate control, for institutional shareholders of Chinese and Taiwanese companies publicly traded in the Greater China region and the United States. This position will report to the Head of Asia-Pacific Research

Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day production of ISS’ benchmark research on China and Taiwan companies, delivering corporate governance reports to institutional shareholder clients within required deadlinesReview research prepared by staff analysts and contribute to their training and developmentAuthor detailed research reports on large-cap companies based on analysis of corporate governance and financial informationParticipate in dialogue and engagement with listed companies as part of the research processEngage with key regulators in China and Taiwan marketsAnswer internal and external queries on research reports from key stakeholder groups, including ISS' international client base of institutional investorsMonitor developments and trends in corporate governance and keep abreast of key investment and shareholder issuesParticipate in ISS' policy development processes and contribute to the debate on governance and policy-related matters

Qualifications:

Excellent understanding of corporate governance and finance/capital markets, with 5-10 years of experience in a related field, in any investor, corporate issuer, or advisory/research capacitiesPrior management experience requiredExperience in China-Taiwan or APAC Market is an advantageMaster’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Law, Economics, Political Science, Journalism or other relevant area. MBA/ CFA/ CA degree would be an advantageExcellent oral and written communication skills in Chinese (both simplified and traditional) and English is requiredStrong oral and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detailHighly analytical with the ability to distill and assimilate large quantities of informationExcellent organizational and management skills, capable of both team and process managementOrganized and structured mind, with excellent time management skills: capable of handling multiple priorities and working under tight deadlinesAbility to work independently and take initiative while also working successfully in a team environment
