This is an entry-level attorney role in the Legal Department, reporting to a Senior Counsel or Associate General Counsel.

 

What You'll be Doing:

Provides legal advice to the business areas designated by first assistant (with approval of Senior VP-General Counsel) including:

Advise business teams on the legal implications of business decisions.Draft, review and negotiate contracts related to the assigned business area.Review, interpret and advise business teams on contractual obligations.Monitor and analyze impact of pending and existing laws and regulations relevant to the assigned business area and communicate impact to the business teams.Collaborate with team members in the Legal Department and other areas of the Company, as needed.Develop training, processes and forms to support business needs and efficiencies.Work with outside legal counsel, as needed.This job profile is not meant to be all inclusive of the responsibilities of this position; may perform other duties as assigned or required.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school requiredMichigan licensed or willingness to become licensed in Michigan2-3 years at a major law firm or large corporation providing legal advice regarding key aspects of real estate acquisitions, property dispositions, and strategic corporate growth initiativesAbility to manage multiple internal stakeholders and balance differing opinions and perspectivesProven success in managing multiple tasks and prioritiesStrong verbal and analytical skillsExceptional interpersonal skillsHighly team-orientedFlexibility as to the types of projects assignedSolid business acumen
