Role Description

FNZ is an asset custodian. This means we hold client assets in our names as nominee and are responsible for the administration of those assets. FNZ also administers a number of Domestic and International assets on behalf of our clients, and these assets are held with external custodians.

The role of a Corporate Actions Analyst is to process all corporate events that occur ensuring that the underlying beneficial owners receive the level of service in both accuracy and timeliness that owners would get if assets were held in their own name. The product range of assets we administer includes Managed funds, Equities and Fixed Interest.

The position is located within the Investment Operations division of FNZ.

Specific Role Responsibilities

Processing mandatory and voluntary corporate actions on Managed Funds, Equities and Fixed Interest products within Key Performance Indicator targets. The role will include the allocation of coupon and dividend income, maturities, fund closures, non income corporate action events such as rights issues, takeovers, stock splits, conversions, share purchase plans, and IPO’s.

Sourcing of all relevant information, either from fund managers, data feeds, Bloomberg, custodian agents or relevant websites i.e. NZX, ASX, company websites; to ensure corporate actions are processed correctly.

Liaison with the Client Relationship and Support team to ensure all relevant information is communicated effectively to and from underlying clients.

Maintaining internal stock and cash ledger control accounts and clearing them on a daily basis.

Reconciling client holdings versus agent holding to ensure that they match during a corporate action.

Working with the IT department to develop system enhancements to improve the efficiency and accuracy of corporate action processing.

Working with FNZ management and other team members to enhance processes for greater efficiencies and controls within the business. This includes keeping the teams procedures up to date.

Communicating effectively with 3rd parties i.e. fund managers, custodian agents and brokers, to ensure everyone has a clear understanding of both incoming and outgoing corporate event notifications.

Experience required

Corporate actions analysts should have a background and interest in financial markets ideally with exposure to corporate actions. 

Tertiary QualificationIntermediate Microsoft Office (Including MSSQL Server 2008) skills preferredAttitude to execute, deliver and succeedHigh attention to detailProven communications skillsEnthusiastic and able to perform role autonomously while being a team player and contributing to the overall success of the team and wider business

As in any financial institution we experience busier periods i.e. end of financial quarters which require all staff to pull together and potentially work extra hours as required.  Hence the ability to work well in a team environment and meet deadlines is essential in this role.
