Coordinator: Ground & Cargo Handling

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Coordinate all operational matters and activities related to the aircraft ground handling operations, and to ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with the safety, security and quality standards; Review and update the department's manuals, encompassing Cargo procedures and operations, Ramp handling, and Aircraft ground handling; Investigate Ground and Cargo incidents or discrepancies, which may have a direct or indirect impact on OTP; Call centre and Cabin Services Support; Monitor Comail & COMAT Provide Comail & COMAT training to Flight Operations; Assist with the collection of catering equipment and ground equipment and with the loading for departing outstation aircraft; Follow up with the ordering of ground support equipment; Monitor service providers to ensure their adherence to procedure; Conduct external audits for Ground Handling and Cargo Operations; Support the Quality department in preparing for the annual AOC and IOSA audits; Perform daily monitoring of Flight Attendant (FA) load sheets; Maintain the aircraft configurations sheet; the updated Aircraft Handling Manual and maintain catering equipment status as and when needed; Procure new equipment and conduct vendor comparisons for quality and pricing; Ensure FlySafair Operations are in full compliance with the DG regulations; Maintain performance indicators for both ground and cargo handling; Respond and investigate IQSMS incidents/reports from Safety; Assist with conducting risk assessment/s when the company takes on new projects; Perform daily monitoring of cargo manifests and conduct ad-hoc checks on the Cargo Manifest; Monitor cargo weights to ensure that there is adequate personnel available; Investigate cargo pilferage or damaged cargo; Perform monthly reconciliation of freight and provide the data to the finance department; Collect data and create a graphical representation to illustrate the month-to-month freight carried. Determine whether to approve or reject excessive freight offers from the service provider; Liaise with the commercial department regarding upcoming new contracts; Review and inspect Dangerous Goods materials that potential clients intend to transport. Ensure that sufficient ground equipment is available for current or upcoming contracts.  REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12; DG certified, CAT 6 holder; 3 years’ experience in cargo operation; Previous aviation experience in an operational area; Aviation auditing experience (Essential); High level of administrative expertise; Good understanding of SMS, IOSA or ISAGO process; Excellent understanding of CAA regulatory requirements pertaining to Cargo security; Computer literate and proficient in Word and Excel; Good communication skills on all levels (Verbal and written); Valid passport; Valid Driver’s license; Must be willing to work overtime.
