Coordinator, Radiology Systems Support
Description: Job Summary:
To Act as a point of contact for vendor service coordinating service for hardware and software problems and provide support to the RIS and PACS Administrators.

Essential Responsibilities:

Acts as a point of contact for vendor service coordinates service for hardware and software problems. Communicates service issues to the RIS and PACS Administrators.
Assists the File Room Supervisor in the management of the information and transition to a filmless environment.
Assigns and updates user and system passwords and maintains a secure list of user and group access.
Supports RIS and PACS Administrators the workflow for validating and resolving system errors as they occur with appropriate tracking and reporting.
Provides administrative support for conducting comprehensive evaluations and tests new releases. Assists in building RIS application dictionaries.
Coordinates initial/ongoing training as it relates to specific end users; radiologists, clinicians, technologists, nurses, support staff, managers and external customers.
Tracks the requests for system and report modifications in RIS.
Documents internal decisions that form the basis for the design decisions with the RIS application and system functions.
Assists with the implementation of plans to monitor and evaluate the PACS and RIS systems.
Updates and monitors event logs and communication links with the vendor and other KP applications with KP-IT.
Establishes and maintains professional rapport with physicians and management to facilitate communication and problem solving.
Is able to work effectively with Radiologists and all departments within Radiology to continuously improve the workflow between the modalities, PACS, RIS, and voice recognition.
Maintains a master host list with IP addresses and host names of all equipment on the network.
Maintains a written record of all PACS equipment with physical location, HDWR configuration, date and time of installation, date and time of software and hardware upgrade, software revision levels, etc.
Maintains an awareness of political, privacy, and ethical issues related to health care, specifically in radiology.
Assists the PACS Administrators with maintaining the PACS network through the administration of file servers, archives, workstations, ID terminal, RIS interface, CR gateway, laser imager and any other peripherals.
Supports sand coordinates activities relating to PACS and RIS for all designated areas.
Supports the PACS and RIS Administrators when they perform in-depth analyses of workflows, data collections, report details and other technical issues associated with the use of the application.
Plans and schedules all maintenance and upgrades to the network and provides feedback to department management and radiologists.
Is required to support on-call during Kaiser Permanente center hours of operations (includes after hours).
Is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of GE Imagecast application (RIS) software and business operations to ensure that the application is configured to support business requirements.
Seeks to improve skills through attending education programs, seminars and/or self-study and through vendor training on software and equipment.
Performs other tasks as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Experience

Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in Radiology/Imaging Services support required.
Education
Bachelors degree in information technology, health care, radiology or related area OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. License, Certification, Registration N/A Additional Requirements:
Strong computer skills to include knowledge of spreadsheet and Microsoft office applications required.Willingness to learn SQL and other related IT systems knowledge required.Familiarity with HIPAA medical information release requirements required.Strong customer services skills required.Knowledge of PACS SCAN/PACS GEAR applications and Dictaphone/Nuance software required.Travel for product training and certification followed by occasional travel required.Microsoft Access, Excel and Word skills required.Strong written and oral communication skills required.Strong interpersonal skills required. Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Radiology image management and system workflows including Radiological exams, scheduling patients and procedures, exam preparation, diagnostic reporting policies, transcription reporting, and film library policy and procedures is preferred.
