Position Summary
Performs clerical and administrative duties for the PM&R department, including telephone coverage, message forwarding, taking and processing new patient information, scheduling patient appointments, coding patient visits, filing and retrieving records, photocopying records, following through on outside department requests for records, faxing information internally and externally and computer related functions. Performs other duties, including office management tasks, as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
§ Greets, receives and interviews out-patients and in-patients in a professional manner.
§ Answers telephone, takes patient intake information, schedules and reschedules patient appointments, and assist in telephone administrative requests. Channels all calls and records telephone messages for staff in a professional manner.
§ Enters diagnosis codes, ICD codes, G-codes and procedure modifier codes into computer when assigned.
§ Finalize speech therapy accounts.
§ Handles all inquiries and requests from the Billing Department and Medical Records in an effective, efficient and professional manner.
§ Types and processes general correspondences and program material.
§ Oversees/photocopies as needed.
§ Oversees/organizes patient charts and records.
§ Oversees/orders and maintains office supplies.
§ Faxes information internally and externally as needed.
§ Scans patient-related documents into the electronic medical record.
§ Schedules outpatient appointments.
§ Maintains department files on the "rehab on stellaris" computer drive.
§ Posts G-codes where appropriate.
§ Finalize speech therapy accounts.
§ Performs other duties as assigned by the manager of PM&R department.
§ Assists staff in patient care when necessary (such as escorting patients, setting up table for modified barium swallow study, etc.).
§ Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, Licensure and Experience Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalency required.
· Minimum of one-year office experience preferred.
· Computer literacy required.

Exposure to Hazards
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
Salary Range: $46,098.98-$69,148.76 (Ranges based on Full Time Hours)
