Cook - Alaska Medical Center

Under limited supervision of a Supervisor or Director of Food and Nutrition, the Cook II will provide courteous, friendly food service while preparing the required portions of food items for both patients and non-patients utilizing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles during all phases of food handling.  Their essential job focus will be on preparing hot and cold food items, using a variety of cooking equipment, while following scratch recipes and department specifications.  Maintains all foods at proper temperatures, during all phases of cooking process – Prep, Cooking, Holding and Cooling.  Works cooperatively as an essential member of the Dietary team. They will comply with all hospital and department standards and become fully knowledgeable about regulatory requirements in food service in a healthcareenvironment.

This position uses experience and knowledge of proper food handling techniques to prep items used in their area, to serve all food service guests and will be responsible to set up, stock, and clean service areas.

Full time, 1.0 FTE, 8-hr Variable shifts, and 40 hours per week.

National Food Handler Card - State County City Authority upon hire. 2 years of Quantity food preparation.

Preferred Qualification:

Coursework/Training: Specific vocational training.
