Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description This position is part of the Automation Services team, supporting various customers across Metro Detroit and the United States, particularly in the food and beverage industry. The role involves working with automation in facilities dealing with liquids and process control around liquid dispensing. The ideal candidate will have automation experience in industries such as food and beverage, chemical production, or oil and gas. Responsibilities + Support various customers in Metro Detroit and across the United States. + Work on multiple projects regardless of the customer. + Program in Rockwell PLC or Siemens TIA Portal, writing code from scratch. + Tune and implement PID loops. + Create, read, and interpret P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). + Manage process control instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, pump controls, conductivity, pH, level, and flow feedback and control. + Expertly handle analog signals and scaling (4-20 mA, 0 to 10 VDC). + Work comfortably with State Logic and various types of sequence logic. + Operate within Distributed SCADA systems (Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk SE, PlantPAX). + Control automated valves for fluid path manipulation (discrete and modulating valves). Essential Skills + 2+ years of experience in automation for liquids. + 4+ years of total automation experience, including programming in Rockwell PLC and/or Siemens. + Proficiency with PID loop tuning and implementation. + Ability to create, read, and interpret P&ID drawings. + Expertise in process control instrumentation. + Knowledge of analog signals and scaling. + Comfortable with State Logic and sequence logic. + Experience with Distributed SCADA systems. + Skilled in automated valve control. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in the food and beverage, chemical production, or oil and gas industries. + Ability to travel and work on projects for extended periods. + Flexibility to work with different types of customers throughout the year. Work Environment This position is based at the office in Whitmore Lake when not on a project. Project locations can vary, including plants in Metro Detroit, Ohio, Idaho, New York State, and others. The role requires openness to travel and working on projects for weeks at a time. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr.
