Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming automated equipment from scratch or updating existing programming, designing and maintaining plant electrical systems and schematics in AutoCAD, and programming PLC and HMI codes. This role requires a combination of office-based programming and on-floor troubleshooting and maintenance work. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to manage project deadlines and delivery dates.

ResponsibilitiesProgram automated equipment from scratch or update existing programming.Program HMIs.Design and maintain plant electrical systems and schematics in AutoCAD.Program PLC code.Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot automated equipment on the floor.Work on automated equipment during shutdowns.Manage projects, working with maintenance and other cross-functional engineering teams to set and manage deadlines and delivery dates.Spend 50% of the time on the shop floor troubleshooting electrical issues with maintenance, and 50% of the time in the office updating or creating PLC/HMI codes and performing electrical design in AutoCAD.Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Essential SkillsAssociates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a similar field.10+ years of relevant experience.Significant recent programming experience in either RSLogix500 or RSLogix5000 (writing an original program from scratch, modifying an existing program, troubleshooting).Experience working in a heavy industrial environment.HMI programming.Proficiency in AutoCAD or other electrical design software.Experience with 480v motors and other industrial power systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's/Associates degree in a related field.Experience with FactoryTalk View ME.Work Environment

This position is based in a foundry, which is a dirtier environment suitable for candidates with experience in heavy industrial settings. The role is a second shift position, Monday to Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Occasionally, mandatory work on Saturdays and Sundays is required, though it is rare. This is a salaried role with potential holiday work compensated by extra days off around those holidays. Working on holidays such as the 4th of July, Labor Day, and Memorial Day is likely due to shutdowns, but efforts are made to avoid work on Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $56.00/hr.
